Drag legend Miss Simone recently performed Rupaul’s Supermodel at the Stonewall National Monument in Christopher Street Park.
According to the fab photographer Steven Love Menendez (above center) who shot these pics and the video,
Simone has been doing Drag Shows in the West Village for close to 30 years!
For the past two years she has been hosting the first official permitted Drag shows during Pride month at the Monument and pop up shows over the summer that feature local girls who regularly hang out in the park.
It is a wonderful celebration of community and all passers-by get a wonderful treat of fabulous performances! This is the REAL New York City!
Simone is carrying on the legacy of Queens like Marsh P. Johnson who utilized Christopher Street Park and the West Village as a safe space for self expression and community building.
Support your local Queens!“
