Designer Stella McCartney took the prize for most unconventional Fashion Week show in London as she unveiled her latest collection — underwater. Water tanks served as a Damien Hirst-style catwalk for athletic models, posing upside down in the British designer’s latest swimwear offering for Adidas before tumbling, turning and coming up for air. Stella has done a lot of unconventional presentations, including a flashmob show at a fancy dinner and installations by artists like yours truly. Four years ago I made a huge backdrop for her runway show in Paris. I painted the 18 x 32 foot monster in London and then it was installed in the Palais de Tokyo in Paris, not far from the Arc de Triomphe, which it depicts. The following spring, we made facimiles of it on canvas to install in her shops around the world. I gave the LA one to World of Wonder and it hangs in their offices to this day. See? I connected all the dots and filled in all the numbers. Yes! (Photos: Stella McCartney, via Standard UK ) See more images.
