This french ad (complete with Star Wars sound effects) features two young men having a duel with their ‘lightsabers’ with the dad of one of the boys walking in, to catch them naked. But the ad, rather than promoting condoms, is a stunt for smartphone brand Wiko Mobile, which is apparently including them with purchase.
Of course it’s not the first ad to have a gay take on Star Wars. Earlier this year, Campbell’s Soup launched a new ad campaign for their ‘Star Wars’ edition soup. Real-life Dads Larry Sullivan and David Monahan take turns impersonating Darth Vader, telling their son:
“I am your Father.”
But homophobes were NOT happy it. Christian anti-gay group One Million Moms – who despite their name have about 3,200 mostly-male Twitter followers – tried to boycott the company just for featuring a gay couple. This latest in a long line of protests and boycotts has been pretty ineffective. Guess the Force is NOT with them.
