Ever since Andy Warhol’s death in 1987, people have been claiming that “Andy would have loved it” about almost everything fabulous or vacuous or both. But, seriously, he actually might have loved this. To commemorate the 40th anniversary of Warhol’s seminal Campbell’s soup can paintings, Campbell’s is bringing out a limited-edition of its tomato soup, replacing the 100-year-old red-and-white label with multicolored ones inspired by Warhol’s silkscreens–pink and orange, aqua and indigo, etc. On April 18, a special four-pack of soup will be unveiled at Giant Eagle supermarkets in the pop artist’s hometown of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, also the home of the Andy Warhol Museum. Warhol in a supermarket. Delicious. And btw, wasn’t it he who coined using super as a prefix?
