This five-foot-long fish with needle-sharp teeth has been identified as the prehistoric frilled shark, a living fossil that lives 1,000 meters underwater, too deep for human exploration. The shark was spotted by a fisherman in Japan and rescued by staff from the Awashima Marine Park, where it died a few hours after being captured. Park officials think it was swimming so close to the surface of the ocean because it was sick. (Daily Mail; Getty photo)
