Humor plays a BIG role in our understanding of just about everything under the sun.
And art combined with wit stimulates the imagination, provokes new insights, spurs action and hopefully brings a smile.
Some Serious Business just released these 3 new limited edition prints in the But Seriously series with works by Karen Finley, Trey Speegle (me), Carey Maxon and Anthony Haden-Guest.

Karen Finley’s print of a stack of books atop the text
example of how to arrange books to appear smart, hip & cool”
Finley says,
During these past 3 years of dystopian mask insanity and isolation, it has been those moments of humor that have allowed me insight to see things with a new perspectiveTo bring a smile, a laugh, a glimmer, and to embrace the joy of being alive.”

Carey Maxon’s landscape with several lines and black ovals…

Anthony Haden-Guest’s print of a female Angel talking to an exec was spontaneously drawn on a napkin in a restaurant in Venice in 1985

My print is NEW HAPPY NEW is a reissue of a silkscreen piece I created in 1985 on a handkerchief and mailed out as my New Years’ affirmation. Those affirmations and words found their way into my works using paint by number that you can see more of here.
I’m now in Mérida, Mexico where I’ve been building a house. After my stuff arrived from New York, the framed original vintage edition I did was one of the first things I unpacked. And for my renewed life here, which includes a new studio space and gallery, NEW HAPPY NOW is just perfect.

Susan Martin still has her original kerchief, as well. It was her idea to recreate it.
Martin, is the legendary art/PR maven, who represented the best NYC underground, East Village, Downtown venues and artists like Lydia Lunch, The Pyramid Cocktail Lounge and the late, great Holly Solomon to name a few.
Susan is the founding director of Some Serious Business, which is involved in all sorts of serious and not-so serious biz including raising art awareness & $$. SSB is,
Helping diverse creators navigate the arts environment and access resources for growth, SSB produces events and projects that expand existing boundaries, incite unexpected passions, raise issues that advance knowledge and understanding of our world, and spark peak experiences—opening doors to the transformative power of art in contemporary society.“
So, it’s the holidays, kids and they are $100 each. I gifted one of my artist proofs to my pal Angel Zimick for her birthday and she’s displaying in an unconventional way; inside her husband, furniture designer John Fischer‘s grandfather’s, grandfather clock!
