Look out Dave Eggers! Step aside Jonathan Franzen! Yes, the literary establishment is about to be ROCKED to its very core, as RuPaul’s Drag Race legends Sharon Needles and Alaska Thunderfuck add “Bestselling Authors” to their already impressive resumes. Both girls have come out with exciting new tomes: Sharon Needles and the Curse of the Devil’s Deck (Sickening Adventures Book 1) and Alaska Thunderfun and the Inner Space Odyssey (Sickening Adventures Book 2).
As BoyCulture’s Matthew Rettemund (who co-authored Alaska’s book) says: They read everyone else, now you can read them!
The synopsis of Sharon’s book:
At the funeral for Madame Mirepoix, her beloved cartomancy instructor during her years at Miss Chokingbone’s Academy for Erstwhile Young Ladies, Sharon receives a mysterious inheritance. It appears to be the Devil’s Deck, a legendary set of tarot cards reportedly drawn by Lucifer himself.
When Sharon performs a reading with the cards, they imply that Madame’s death was not from natural causes. To find out what really happened, Sharon returns to the school looking for answers. There she finds herself entangled in a mystery involving a vengeful ghost, a lusty gym teacher, crafty coeds, and a creature summoned from the depths of Hell.
As each day brings new questions, and the evil menacing the school’s students grows more and more malevolent, Sharon will need to use every trick at her disposal to uncover the truth. But will the answers bring justice, or will they resurrect secrets better left buried?
If you dare, step inside and discover the story foretold by the cards of the Devil’s Deck.
And the synopsis of Alaska’s:
New Year’s Eve, 1979: A lonely military outpost is about to have its mind blown by an unexpected guest — a leggy bombshell from the planet Glamtr0n.
Crash-landing on earth, the newly named Alaska Thunderfun is immediately captured by military men eager to exploit her body’s out-of-this-world special powers. But Alaska doesn’t give up without a fight, and soon finds herself on a wild ride to the fabled Hollywood she’s read about in her home planet’s school books, a journey that will introduce her to a lesbian truck driver, an androgynous fashion model, and America’s glamorous, garish 1980s pop culture.
Will Alaska succeed in eluding her would-be kidnappers? Will she become a superstar on Earth before she finds her way back home? And what is it about her amazing body that holds the key to survival, and to the happiness of one of her newfound friends?

Here are Season 8 drag queens reacting to the news:
And here’s BoyCulture’s interview with Alaska:
Boy Culture: Of all the opportunities you had following your success on RuPaul’s Drag Race, what made a book such an attractive idea?
Alaska Thunderfun: I love drag because there are no limits. I get to dip my hands in all sorts of media, and I get to put my name and my face on things like T-shirts, posters, watches, music albums—and now a book.
BC: How would you pitch our book to your fans so they understand what to expect?
AT: It’s a story about a beautiful alien from a distant planet who crash-lands on Earth. The rest is a surprise.
BC: What’s your favorite part of your book?
AT: The front cover—because there’s so much to read beyond it. It’s lovely. Whoever this young alien woman is, she sure is gorgeous.
BC: Would you consider starring in a movie based on your book?
AT: Only if Lifetime Movie Network or Hallmark Channel produce it.
BC: Would you want to get involved in another book project?
AT: Yes. I like working.
BC: Which other RuPaul’s Drag Race queen do you think has a book in her?
AT: Cynthia Lee Fontaine could have a series of books about her cucu alone.
BC: What’s your own favorite book you’ve ever read?
AT: When Things Fall Apart by Pema Chodron.
BC: What other projects do you have coming up?
AT: Currently I’m on the Battle of the Seasons Tour, which is in its North American leg. And some other surprises.
BC: How would you describe your fans? What do you want to thank them for?
AT: My fans are gorgeous and stunning, but most of all they are caring and kind. We are moving toward a world where the gender binary is more fluid and it will be more like Star Trek and we won’t be a planet at war constantly.
BC: Ever have any crazy fan encounters?
AT: Someone just got a tattoo of my face on their leg. I’ve never seen a nicer thigh.
