Of course we all love the Soup’s dreamy Joel McHale, and the equally adorable Mankini— but lately you might have noticed another hunk edging his way up the ladder of “Souperstardom.” His name is Matt Carney and (happily for us) he usually shows up oiled and shirtless… then ends up getting shot by Joel. As it turns out, he really IS a production assistant on the show, just like they say. AfterElton interviewed him and asked him what that entails: “I edit clips, handle other areas of production and pick up the runny piles of crap Lou [the Chihuahua] likes to leave under our desks,” he says. “I wish that was a joke.”
How did he end up on camera? “The first time I appeared on camera, I was in a sequined red dress and I got pepper-sprayed. The second time I came on, I got punched in the face. The writers choose at random who they want to see get abused and humiliated that particular week and for some reason the wheel usually seems to land on me.” Which is fine with us.
