SNL brings us the Welcome to Hell music video anthem to remind us that none of this sexual harassment stuff is anything new for women.
Cecily Strong says,
“Hey there, boys, we know the last couple months have been insane. All of these big, cool, powerful guys are turning out to be, what’s the word… habitual predators.”
Aidy Bryant adds.
“And it’s like, dang, is this the world now?”
Hello!?
“This been the damn world.”
It’s all done in a cute girl group guise, al la Katy Perry, with floating cherries, clouds and HUGE lollipops, but the message is not diluted.
Flashbacks of women’s suffrage, witch burning and a male-dominated workplace. Then Leslie Jones steps in to remind us that,
“it’s like a million times worse for a woman of color.”
Guest host Saoirse Ronan says,
“Now ‘House of Cards’ is ruined, and that really sucks. Well here’s a list of stuff that’s ruined for us…”
Including parking, walking, Uber, ponytails, bathrobes, nighttime, drinking, hotels and vans.
Twitter agreed that this is the song we need right now.
Watch.
