Saturday. Night Live. It used to be the way we discovered new music. I’ve been watching SNL for literally 45 years. (Two of my best friends were its first headwriter, the late Michael O’Donoghue and music director, Cheryl Hardwick.) When Devo, or the B-52s or David Bowie with Klaus Nomi & Joey Arias in dress first appeared, it was news-making. Before MTV, Spotify or YouTube, you saw and heard new talent at the record store and on SNL.
Last night, not a brand new talent, but a fresh one made a sort of debut that I’d say is as noteworthy as Nora Jones, Macy Gray (I was in the audience for that one), or maybe even Adele. Don’t take my word for it. Here’s Maggie Rogers Fallingwater.

She’s on tour for the next 5 months in the U.S. and in Europe. Tickets & tour info dates here.
My friend, artist Danielle Kyrsa just shared this video of Pharrell hearing Maggie for the first time.
