When I saw the celebrity panel of an episode of the new Match Game, hosted by Alec Baldwin, I’ll admit, I got a little nervous about one of the panelists. This wasn’t Snatch Game, kids.
Guests were Chris Parnell, Whitney Cummings, Kevin Smith, Jane Krakowski, Ron Funches AND Caitlyn Jenner!
(Btw, if you hate Caitlyn, you WON’T like this post, so just click somewhere else…)
But this line-up was was like the old Match Game; a weird mix of pop culture celebs mixed in with comics and THE most famous trans person in the world. (Say what you will, but she is.)
Caitlyn was relaxed and funny and when Nikki won the first round, the clue to match was ________ TEN. We had HANG TEN, PERFECT TEN and then Caitlyn’s answer was TOP TEN. And Nikki chose her answer and won the top amount, $5000.
Then it came time to match a celeb head-to-head, Nikki picked Caitlyn and had to match exactly, DOWN TO ______. (I thought of Joni Mitchell‘s Down To You) but Nikki said EARTH. And Caitlyn stalled and asked again what she was going to do with that $25,000 (she wanted to buy a house she could live in with her aging parents…)
Caitlyn said,
“Well, I think you can do that!“
Now this isn’t all THAT amazing, but I watch this show off and on and I’m often amazed at how bad both the contestants and the celebs can be. Not this time.
Baldwin was polite even though he plays Trump and makes fun of him and Caitlyn voted for him. He said to her,
“We’re happy to have you here.“
I think that’s what’s called being civil, something we could learn to be again – from a game show.
