Louis Cannizzaro, our pal who writes those precious and romanic slim volumes of sensitive boy-loves-girl musings that cause the ladies to moisten ever so gently, frequently sends us arcane emails with one or two handwritten words and a photo or drawing of, say, a shoe, an elbow. They seem to have no purpose other than to say hi how are you. Today this image arrived from him, and it was so cluttered, so rife with subtext and story that it shocked us. Coming as it did on the day that Fenton expressed his feeling that there’s a trend in cleansing upon us, of throwing away things to start afresh, it seemed particularly pertinent. But we think there could be some sadness lurking in this photo. And, look, there’s Canizzarro’s latest book tossed onto the heap.
