Tony Curtis, whose current favorite film is Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (well, he did play Houdini in 1953), says he hasn’t seen Brokeback Mountain and isn’t going to. He told Fox News that “the only thing unique about it is they put it on the screen. And they make [the gay lovers] cowboys. Howard Hughes and John Wayne wouldn’t like it.” Irrelevant though that thought is for several reasons, we’re thinking Billy Wilder would have liked the movie – and liked it hot. And – benefit of the doubt – perhaps Curtis was thinking of his famous drag role in Wilder’s 1959 film when he said Brokeback is not unique.
