According to the LA Times, six arrests have been made over changing the famous Los Angeles iconic sign to read
It was carried out by breast-cancer awareness activists and police say there was no vandalism involved—a large tarp with the letter “B” on it was simply thrown over the “W,” and a white dash added to the “D” to make it complete the “BOOB” section of the sign.
The six were cited with misdemeanor trespassing and released.
Mark Panatier, chairman of the Hollywood Sign Trust, failed to see the humor (or purpose) of the stunt, calling the sign a
“visual reinforcement of the importance of Hollywood… it doesn’t need to be demeaned.”
But the disease is no joke. Every year, 250,000 women get breast cancer and 42,000 women die from it. So, if the goal was to call attention to breast cancer, here are the CDC guidelines. Get tested regularly, especially women over 50 and learn how to check yourself.
Instagramer Julia Rose claimed credit for the stunt.
