Postponing the 2020 Olympics due to the pandemic has caused world-class problems for top athletes like Simone Biles. In Simone vs Herself, filmmakers followed the famed gymnast for a year as she adjusts to the new reality.
Biles has been heavily favored to won her second overall gold medal, but that has been thrown into disarray after Tokyo announced their Olympics will have to wait in the name of public health. She called it “the right decision,” even though it is causing her so many problems:
Via Deadline, Biles said:
My gymnastics career has been filled with a lot of ups and downs despite what a lot of people may think, and, in a lot of ways, my career has felt like I’ve been trying to prove myself to others. My mom has always encouraged me to be the “best Simone I can be” and I now have a true appreciation for what that really means, which is one of the big reasons I wanted to come back for Tokyo.
