New York artist Albert Crudo’s portrait of a reclining, nude Donald Trump was the talk of the town when it was displayed at a Williamsburg restaurant a couple of weeks ago. Crudo has an idea for Trump to purchase it. Here’s the letter the artist sent the builder.

Dear Mr. Trump,
I want to thank you for your good-natured response to my painting – it was an honor to devote the time and energy it took to create this work. I anticipate that you regard it as the tribute it is. The subjects for my ‘Pop Icon’ series are chosen very carefully – I only consider those personalities that I admire and respect… and those with that most elusive aspect of fame – endurance. Of course, every piece has to have an ‘edge’ to it- something to simulate thoughts and provoke dialogue among viewers. Creating lasting artworks that intrigue the audience is my number one objective- my art has been likened to the new ‘Mona Lisas’ and ‘Davids’ for this millennium. And I’m pleased to have included you.
Since the media exposure, there has been a firestorm of interest in this piece – but I truly would like to see this work acquired by you. So I invite you to view the original, as no reproduction can match the vibrancy, depth and power of the actual painting. And if you do decide you would like to acquire it, I am willing to donate all proceeds to charity. The Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation is a very worthwhile cause, or if you feel strongly about another particular organization we can arrange for the donation to be awarded there.Thank you for your time and consideration.
Respectfully,
CRUDO
