Gorgeous images of the squalor and urban decay that gripped the city during the ’70s – before the Disneyfication of Times Square, before yuppies and hipsters and Sex and the City and trustifarians scrubbed away the grit. In some respects, it’s like that city doesn’t even exist anymore. Then you see pictures of people marching against corporate greed and you realize plus ça change, plus c’est la même chose, you know what I mean? A couple of gripes: The Ramones pic is from the ’90s, those Diane Arbus pics are from the ’60s (the boy with the grenade is 1962), and REALLY seven pictures of the Son of Sam?
