At last night’s GLAAD Media Awards in Los Angeles, Beyoncé and Jay-Z were honored with the super-prestigious Vanguard Award for their tireless, career-long advocacy of LGBTQ rights. Before receiving it, though, they were wowed by a rousing 7-minute lip-sync medley of Beyoncé and Destiny’s Child hits from none other than our very own Shangela! Slay, girl! What an unbelievable honor! According to the twitter thread below, Shangie received an “electrifying” standing ovations from the crowd, as well as MULTIPLE standing ovations from Beyoncé herself!

Accepting her award, Queen Bey said:
I want to dedicate this award to my Uncle Johnny, the most fabulous gay man I’ve ever known, who helped raise me and my sister,” said Beyoncé, her voice shaking with emotion. “He lived his truth. He was brave and unapologetic during a time when this country wasn’t as accepting. Witnessing his battle with HIV was one of the most painful experiences I’ve ever lived. I’m hopeful that his struggles served to open pathways for other young people to live more freely. LGBTQI rights are human rights.”
During his acceptance speech, Jay Z honored his mother Gloria Carter, who is gay and received an award from GLAAD last year.
