House Speaker Nancy Pelosi had VP Mike Pence kicked out of a little-used office that was given to him when Republicans were in control of the chamber.
Pence’s nameplate was removed at the direction of Pelosi, NPR reports. Pelosi plans to provide this office as a new space for the White House legislative affairs team, which did not have one under former House Speaker Paul Ryan.
Pence has an office in the Senate wing, where he serves as president.
The Hill confirmed that Pence was given the boot and an aid told them,
“Room assignments are reviewed and changed at the beginning of every Congress.”
The unnamed aide added that no other VP has had an office in the House in 25 years. All the more reason for Pelosi to keep her well-earned title,
“Patron Saint of Shade.”
Apparently she has twin title because you can get a Queen of Shade tee.
CSPAN producer Craig Caplan shared before-and-after pics of the office, from 2017 and this week on Twitter.
VP Pence got his House side 1st floor US Capitol office in early February 2017 from Speaker Paul Ryan. 2 years later, his name over his former office door has been removed under new House Democratic majority. https://t.co/hDxKuy5W03 pic.twitter.com/UocRvWWhu4
