When the original Debbie Does Dallas came out in 1978, the adult film industry was entirely different than it is today. For one thing, back then naked people didn’t just stream onto your computer or cell phone with the push of a button – partly because the technology wasn’t there yet, and partly because pornography was still highly illegal in most of the good ol’ U S of A. In fact, as recently as 1986 the original Debbie was considered to be obscene material, subject to seizure by the State Gestapo Police. And that wasn’t in the backwoods of Tennessee either – that was in New York.
So think about that as you settle back on your fancy sofa and flick on your 65” plasma screen to watch tonight’s episode of WOW’s seven-part documentary series Debbie Does Dallas…Again, because some of the cast are in store for an impromptu history lesson on how Things Used To Be in porn industry. In other words – police raid!
As loyal WOW Report readers know, the Debbie series chronicles Vivid Entertainment’s attempt to make not one but two entirely separate and not-quite-equal remakes of the seminal ’70s porn film of the same name. One remake is being made by Vivid’s venerable in-house artiste, director Paul “PT” Thomas, whose struggles with casting and locations have put him squarely in the Vivid doghouse. The second film is helmed by an upstart pornographer and smudged makeup fetishist who goes by the nom de porn Eon McKai, who sees Debbie as his chance to revolutionize the industry from the inside out. Caught in between are the lovely ladies of Vivid – Stefani, Monique, Sunny, and Cassidey – each of whom has their own personal motivation for being in one remake or the other, and none of whom is happy with where they’ve ended up.
On top of the cop visit, tonight’s episode also echoes porn’s not-so-distant past with a brief history lesson on the development and execution of the all-important anal scene. Once considered too outré even for pornographers, anal was seen as a kinky fetish better served up in greasy, grainy Times Square peepshow loops. But times change, and in
today’s big bright Internet age, where yesterday’s extreme activities are today’s YouTube clichés, anal sex is a crucial part of every adult film, as much a must-have as a pretty girl (or guy) and a clean pop shot. And while it might look easy, it’s not – it’s messy, it takes a lot of preparation, and not everyone does it, let alone does it well.
Between the abortive butt-sex and the nastiness with the fuzz, there’s plenty of other hot girl-on-girl-on-guy action, some of it actually taking place while everyone has their clothes on: Stefani pitches a proposal and throws a star-fit, Monique gets all uptight about doing a scene in the middle of a graveyard, Tommy Pistol demos his patented sac-waxing
technique, and Eon finds the perfect location to start shooting his masterpiece. So what if his location is a burned-out warehouse in South Central LA with no air conditioning or working toilets – you have to suffer for your art, right? The suffering starts tonight promptly at 11PM Eastern and Pacific, only on Showtime.
