Debbie Does Dallas…Again supervising producer Chris May writes:
In the pantheon of great Hollywood traditions, the Career Reviving Role is right up there with the Trip to Rehab and the Disasterous Short-Term Marriage on the list of things a celebrity can do to get back in the spotlight when everyone in town has written them off. Granted, the degree of difficulty is much higher, but if you can pull it off, the payoff is fantastic. Just ask John Travolta, Frank Sinatra, or Liza Minnelli. Of course, you only get one shot, and if you screw it up, you’re stuck with bad marriages and rehab as your only options (again, just ask Liza).
And what’s true in Hollywood is also true in the adult film industry, as you’ll see in tonight’s installment of WOW’s new documentary series Debbie Does Dallas…Again, which follows the fine folks over at Vivid Entertainment as they attempt to remake the ’70s cheerleader-porn classic.
In the last episode, the powers-that-be decided to bench one of their biggest stars, Cassidey, just as she was ready to make her triumphant return to the world of clothing-free cinema. Now they’ve got their movie cast, and she’s stuck sitting on the sidelines. With her big comeback in tatters, will she follow in Liza’s footsteps and marry a waxy-looking, quite possibly (but not admittedly) gay impresario and go on an alcohol-fueled rampage that culminates in broken dreams, broken bottles, and and an endless cycle of rehab and lawsuits? Let’s hope so!
On top of that, tonight’s episode features some serious soul-searching from Stefani, who wonders if winning the lead in Debbie is really worth it; some serious hustling on the part of “alt-porn” auteur Eon McKai; and a brief lesson in how to deal with a snotty adult film star of multiple AVN Award winner Paul “PT” Thomas. Oh yeah, and one of the Debbie cast gets in a huge, fiery car crash that permanently ends her career, and throws everything into complete chaos. Almost forgot about that one!
So if you’re a fan of behind-the-scenes bitchiness, backstabbing, and cat-fighting; hot girls in car-crashes; or just beautiful naked people in general, then be sure to tune in to Showtime tonight at 11pm for Debbie Does Dallas…Again, the only documentary series on TV where the emotions are as naked as the stars.
