If you’ve been following the saga of the Sex and the City 3 movie, Sarah Jessica Parker said they weren’t doing it, others implied it was due to Kim Cattrall and then Cattrall told Piers Morgan that she never intended to do the movie in the first place.
But SATC‘s Stanford Blatch (Willie Garson) has decided to officially weigh in on the drama with some Twitter shade directed at Cattrall,
“Dear fans, because I’m ‘toxic,’ I’m going to negotiate a contract for 6 months, not come to terms, then say I never wanted to do it anyway.”
Rumors were that Cattrall had been on board for the third film before blowing up the project by walking away. That “toxic” comment also points to Cattrall’s recent interview with Piers Morgan, in which she said the whole SATC experience as of late
“feels like a toxic relationship.”
“Me playing [Samantha], that I can assure you will never happen. For me it’s over, it’s over with no regrets, I just wish that Sarah had been nicer.”
So far, SJP has remained silent although Kristin Davis (Charlotte) recently posted a still from the show on her Instagram.
“I wish that we could have made the final chapter, on our own terms, to complete the stories of our characters,” she wrote. “It is deeply frustrating not to able to share that chapter (beautifully written by MPK [show writer Michael Patrick King]) with all of you.”
In a Daily Mail story, a source close to the production said:
“The only reason this movie isn’t being made is because of Kim Cattrall. Everyone was looking forward to making this movie but Kim made it all about her, always playing the victim.
Cast and crew don’t just show up to make a movie, they have to rearrange their lives. People turned down other jobs, were in the process of relocating to New York but she kept stalling and was always unavailable when answers from her were needed.““
Cynthia Nixon, (in a Miranda move) has stayed out it altogether.
Here’s my two cents. The movie appeared to be moving forward (you don’t write a script, cast, hire crew and scout locations if you don’t have your principal actors on line) so, Cattrall must have been negotiating all along. The movie was due to start shooting in NYC this month, but then negotiations broke down. So, Samantha killed it and in the end, that may not be a bad thing.
Could someone make the SATC 3 behind-the-scenes movie please, so much more drama!
