Deadline reported today that Ryan Murphy has just cast 28-year-old Jake Picking as the impossibly handsome/sadly closeted ’50s-era screen idol Rock Hudson in the upcoming Netflix limited series Hollywood.
Pickering isn’t a big star yet, although he’s been toiling about Hollywood for a few years now, with roles in Dirty Grampa (with Zac Efron), Goat (with Nick Jonas), and Patriots Day (with Mark Wahlberg)… as well as a part in the upcoming Top Gun sequel Maverick (with Tom Cruise, duh)
Not bad for a newbie!
Murphy calls Hollywood a “love letter to the Golden Age of Tinseltown,” featuring dozens of today’s hottest stars including Darren Criss, Jim Parsons, Dylan McDermott, Joe Mantello, Patti LuPone, Holland Taylor, Jeremy Pope, Samara Weaving, and Maude Apatow.
Production for Hollywood is already underway.
So tell me, what do you think? Does Picking have the smoldering good looks of the young Rock Hudson? Does he have that BIG HOLLYWOOD SUPERSTAR vibe about him? check out some Insta pics below and leave you comments on WOW’s Facebook.
