‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ Finale! James St. James’ New Movie ‘Freak Show’! LA Landmark Circus of Books is Closing! Watch This Week’s Top Ten Things That Make Us Go WOW! for Radio Andy on Sirius XM!

By Blake Jacobs on June 30, 2017 1:11 pm

From Hollywood Boulevard, it’s The WOW Report for Radio Andy on SiriusXM! That’s right WOWers, World of Wonder Co-Founder Fenton Bailey, Chief Creative Officer Tom Campbell, and WOW Report Editor James St. James have collaborated with reality TV guru and friend of WOW, Andy Cohen, on a weekly Top Ten Countdown of the things from the past week that make us go…WOW!

It’s a pop-culture obsessed hour complete with colorful diatribes, opposing opinions, and a dissection-like discussion that will make your drive home from work more fabulous!

You can now WATCH us recording the WOW Report in our gallery storefront on Hollywood Boulevard, just across the street from Hollywood’s oldest restaurant Musso & Frank!

This week we have special guest host John Polly filling in for Fenton, and we air TODAY at 4PM EST on SiriusXM and again at 4PM PST (that’s 7PM EST). You can also catch it on the SiriusXM app!

Let’s get started…

10) The Big Sick is Sickening!

The Big Sick – the new movie starring Kumail Nanjiani & Zoe Kazan and produced by Judd Apatow – may be the sleeper hit of the summer. GO SEE IT!

Skip forward to The Big Sick

9)  ABC is Bringing Boy Band’s Back

If you read the WOW Report at all, you’ll know that James has a borderline obsession with boy bands. So you know he’s tuning in to ABC’s Boy Band, but you may be surprised to hear what he has to say about it.

Skip forward to Boy Band

8)  Netflix Picks: Anne with an E

Anne with an E is a darker take on Anne of Green Gables. It was beautifully shot in Canada, where it aired on television and was simply titled Anne. If you want to watch it here in the US, you can stream it on Netflix.

Skip forward to Anne with an E

7)  Harry Hamlin & the 35th Anniversary of Making Love

Tom recently attended a 35th anniversary screening of Making Love – the 1982 film that was on of the first big budget films with a gay storyline. It stars Michael Ontkean, Kate Jackson, and Harry Hamlin who also attended with his wife Lisa Rinna!

Skip forward to Making Love

6)  The Mitford Sisters: The Kardashians of the 1920s

Have you ever heard of the Mitford sisters? They were like the Kardashian/Jenner sisters of the 1920s, but with maybe even MORE drama. The sisters grew up being super close, but went in wildly different directions. One of the sisters was a Hitler groupie while another was a champion for civil rights! Watch The Mitfords: A Tale of Two Sisters on Netflix.

Skip forward to The Mitfords: A Tale of Two Sisters

5)  The RuPaul’s Drag Race Finale Got “So Emotional”

RuPaul has had a big year – winning an Emmy, being on the cover of Entertainment Weekly, and getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. All this AND RuPaul’s Drag Race had it’s most-watched season ever after moving to VH1! We discuss the RU-vamped finale and newly crowned Drag Superstar Sasha Velour.

Skip forward to the RuPaul’s Drag Race finale

4)  RIP WeHo’s Circus of Books

Circus of Books – which was once a gay mecca and community center of sorts – has fallen victim to technology and will be closing soon. The place where we used to get our porn and maybe our next hookup has been replaced with online shopping and hookup apps. At least we have until December.

Skip forward to Circus of Books

3)  Summer Movie: Sofia Coppola’s The Beguiled

We discuss Sofia Coppola’s latest movie The Beguiled in theaters now.

Skip forward to The Beguiled

2)  Summer Reading: West of Eden

The fascinating new book about Los Angeles by Jean Stein who sadly committed suicide not long ago by jumping to her death in New York City. Weirdly from the same apartment that Gloria Vanderbilt’s son and Anderson Cooper’s older brother Carter jumped to his death in 1988.

Skip forward to West of Eden

1)  James St. James’ New Movie Freak Show

It’s finally here! After 10 years in production, James recently travelled to San Francisco for the premiere of Freak Show!
