Below are three Drag Race Artists whose talent you have to check out!
David Perry is a Student from Mexico
METHOD: By Hand
“My inspiration comes when I see a Queen that has a really good concept in her outfit or makeup. [It] speaks to me, like I need to be drawn by you.”
“Shea Coulee” by David Perry
“I create by art by starting off with a sketch base and then I start coloring with markers and colored pencils.”
“Alexis Michelle” by David Perry
“The drive behind my artistry is seeing myself grow. I always want to do better than before.”
“AJA” by David Perry
Terry Blas is a Comic Book Artist from Portland, Oregon
Method: By Hand
“As a young gay boy I would get scared to draw sexy men in front of people or have somebody see that as it would reveal a secret about me. So I drew a lot of women. A lot of Disney Princesses. A happy medium of that is graduating to queens I suppose. They’re sexy men who happen to look like women!”
“Robbie Turner” by Terry Blas
“I’ve exhibited [at Drag Con] all three years. It’s a blast every time. It’s a show I do very well at and it’s incredibly well organized. Always the highlight of my year. A lot of the cutout/standups I’ll have this year were drawn on paper with ink and then colored digitally. I enjoy the combination of the two.”
“Drag Race Queens Cutouts” by Terry Blas
“I watch it at home because sometimes I like to sketch if I get inspired. It would take a lot for me to watch it at a bar. I’m one of those weirdos who gets mad if I miss a funny line or a joke or can’t hear what someone said because people are talking or laughing.”
“RuPaul” by Terry Blas
Sahar Cohen is a Self-Proclaimed Drag Superfan from Israel
Method: By Hand
“I’m obsessed [with] Drag. It helps me deal with body image and develop self confidence.”
“Kim Chi” by Sahar Cohen
“I went to the first Drag Con by myself. This year, I’m traveling to Los Angeles again to attend Drag Con, but this time, with my mom!”
“Alaska ThunderF***” by Sahar Cohen
“I mostly create with sketching pencils and black pens. I like minimalism and keeping it raw. It’s how I express my feelings, most of the time, when I work on a portrait or sketch. It puts me in a trance and really calms me.”
“Bianca Del Rio” by Sahar Cohen
Want the chance to meet not only these artists, but your favorite Drag Race Superstars? You can from April 29th-30th at the Los Angeles Convention Center! Head here to purchase your tickets!
