It’s a pretty surreal moment when the über-butch host of Fox’s Good Day New York breaks into Ru‘s seminal 1993 hit “Back to My Roots“… and Ru has absolutely no idea what the words are.
Greg Kelly–son of New York police commissioner, Ray Kelly, and co-host of Fox’s Good Day New York–purports himself as a big RuPaul fan.
Thus, you can imagine his excitement when Ru popped up in studio this morning.
Ru chatted with Greg Kelly and co-host Rosanna Scotto about Season 7, his early days of drag, the upcoming RuPaul’s Drag Con and of course a plug for his latest album, Realness (out now, have you heard?).
Then came time for a duet of RuPaul’s early hit Back To My Root, which even MyFoxNY admits, “While the intention was good, the outcome wasn’t quite what Greg was going for.”
