Congratulations are in order for Ron Cephas Jones and his daughter Jasmine Cephas Jones, who made history at the Emmys this week as the first father and daughter to win together.
Ron won for his guest role as William on This Is Us. Jasmine won Outstanding Actress in a Short Form Comedy or Drama Series for her role as Tyisha in Quibi’s “#FreeRayshawn.” Both are seasoned performers; this was Ron’s fourth nomination, and Jasmine’s first. Jasmine was previously best known for her work on Broadway, where she originated the roles of Peggy Schuyler and Maria Reynolds in Hamilton.
Ron told Deadline:
As a parent that’s the most fulfilling that I could ever feel at the moment. Winning another Emmy is the icing on the cake, but to see my daughter progress and move into this place where she’s earned an Emmy is beyond words and I tear up every time I think about it to be honest with you. To see my daughter become healthy and happy, that’s a parent’s dream.
