Elton John, who’s retired from performing, said Friday that he’s also quitting Twitter.
Elton tweeted he was leaving the social media platform,
“All my life I’ve tried to use music to bring people together. Yet it saddens me to see how misinformation is now being used to divide our world.
I’ve decided to no longer use Twitter, given their recent change in policy which will allow misinformation to flourish unchecked.”
Musk very oddly replied,
Hope you come back… any misinformation in particular that you’re concerned about?”
OMG, there’s SO MUCH bad info (which Musk is obviously aware) it’s difficult to choose. For one, since Musk took over, he eliminated the policy that allowed Twitter staff to remove “potentially harmful and misleading information” about the coronavirus.
He’s also allowed people who were previously suspended for spreading COVID misinformation, including extremist Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, back on the platform.
