Leandro De Niro Rodriguez, the grandson of actor Robert De Niro, has died.
His mother actress Drena De Niro, Robert De Niro’s daughter, wrote about the loss of her son in a post on Instagram,
You have been my joy my heart and all that was ever pure and real in my life,
I don’t know how to live without you but I’ll try to go on and spread the love and light that you so made me feel in getting to be your mama.
You were so deeply loved and appreciated and I wish that love alone could have saved you.
Rest in Peace and Eternal Paradise my darling boy.“
Leandro was found dead at Cipriani Wall Street in Lower Manhattan Sunday afternoon.
A spokesperson for the NYPD said that officers responded to a 911 call at 55 Wall Street just before 2:30PM on Sunday and found a male, unconscious and unresponsive.
De Niro was pronounced dead by EMS on scene, according to the NYPD.
Robert De Niro said in a statement to CNN,
I’m deeply distressed by the passing of my beloved grandson Leo. We’re greatly appreciative of the condolences from everyone.
We ask that we please be given privacy to grieve our loss of Leo.”
Leandro was also an actor appearing, along with his mother, in A Star Is Born in 2018, with Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga. According to IMDB, his other acting credits include The Collection in 2005 and Cabaret Maxime in 2018.
No cause of death has been shared at this writing.
Leandro DeNiro was 19.
