An anti-vaccine right-wing radio host died Wednesday from COVID-19 complications.
The West Palm Beach local radio talk show host said no one should get the coronavirus vaccine and railed against Dr. Anthony Fauci, who he called a
“power tripping lying freak”
He also wrongly told his followers they would not need the vaccine if they had already survived COVID. The CDC advises former coronavirus patients to be vaccinated –but hey, what do THEY know, they’re just the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention…
In late June, he wrote,
“So, u think it wasn’t a SCAM DEMIC? NOT ONE ELECTED DEMOCRAT ever tested positive.”
He said masks were “face diapers” and “face pantys.”
But when COVID sent him to the hospital, he changed his tune and suddenly urging friends to get vaxed. Amy Leigh Hair, a close friend of Farrel, wrote on Facebook,
“COVID took one of my best friends! RIP Dick Farrel. He is the reason I took the shot. He texted me and told me to ‘Get it!’
He told me this virus is no joke and he said, ‘I wish I had gotten it!“
Dick Farrel was 65.
An anti-LGBTQ+ H. Scott Apley, a Texas politician (who repeatedly mocked the danger of COVID and the need for wearing masks) has died after being hospitalized with the disease.
A member of the Dickinson City Council and the State Republican Executive Committee, Apley’s last Facebook post, was a share of a Twitter message making fun of warnings about COVID and the need for vaccination.
“In 6 months, we’ve gone from the vax ending the pandemic — to you can still get covid even if vaxxed — to you can pass covid onto others even if vaxxed — to you can still die of covid even if vaxxed — to the unvaxxed are killing the vaxxed.”
He had also promoted mask-burning events he made fun of Demi Lovato identifying as nonbinary and using gender-neutral pronouns. He said
“I will NEVER play this ridiculous game under any circumstances.”
He posted things that ridiculed transgender parents and questioned why anti-trans legislation is controversial. He wrote this May,
“Never in my life would I have thought that preventing biological males from competing against biological females or not chemically/surgically castrating minor children would be a difficult thing to agree on.”
KTRK reports that Apley’s wife, Melissa, and their 5-month-old son have also tested positive for COVID.
