Poor old hoity-toity wannabe gangster Guy Ritchie. His last movie, Swept Away, went straight to video in the UK after being ridiculed mercilessly by US critics and sinking without trace at the box office.
And now his latest offering, Revolver (yet another Lock-schlock gangland “thriller” with all the depth, originality, and allure of a 90-minute premium lager commercial), looks set for a similar fate, following the unanimous thumbs-down it received this week at the Toronto Film Festival. In fact, not even the film’s distributors seem to give a shit about it; the director’s name is spelt incorrectly on the movie’s website, the home page of which reads “Revolver – A Guy Richie Movie.” [Ed note: It’s been fixed.]
