I know everyone is losing their shit this week over New York magazine’s lengthy, macabre cover story of a man who buys a Nazi-lampshade made out of the skin of Holocaust-era Jews at a garage sale in post-Katrina New Orleans, but for me this week’s must-read story of the week goes to the Village Voice‘s “Revenge of the Losers” by Camille Dodero. This fabulously snarky piece of travel writing explores the annual Gathering of the Juggalos, the violent, maniacal, feces-throwing, family-loving, God-fearing fans of the Insane Clown Posse, who got a lot of attention a few week’s ago after hurling rocks at Tila Tequila. Every scene has rules and elements about it that make it seem absurd and ridiculous to those outside it, but this scene takes the blood and feces filled cake. Read at your own risk.
