Of course the big news of the night wasn’t who won or who lost, or who wore what on the red carpet, it was the heckling that 12 Years a Slave director Steven McQueen got when he walked on the stage following a passionate introduction from the legendary Harry Belafonte. As the audience applauded, and the director openly wept, Armond White, the controversial film critic for CityArts, yelled at Steve McQueen, “You’re an embarrassing doorman and garbage man! Fuck you! Kiss my ass!” WHAAAAT? INCROYABLE! WHAT A WORLD! Wither civility, amiright? Read the whole story at The Hollywood Reporter.
Anyway, on the red carpet: Best Supporting Actor winner Jared Leto in a fabulous (I’m assuming) Givenchy man-skirt; the glorious Glenn Close; Cate the Great wearing a gorgeous gunmetal grey Antonio Berardi gown (with a ruby lining!), Christian Louboutin shoes, and Van Cleef & Arpels earrings (which you can’t see but they’re quite sumptuous, I promise); and Ethan Hawke who, over the last couple of years, has gone from hot to hideous and back to hot again. Good for him. I love a happy ending. WHAT A NIGHT. (Photos: Pacific Coast News)
