Times are tough and it has gotten chili at night here in L.A. AGAIN!! so I keep warm and get creative in the kitchen. This one is simple and I call it “Orange Bone-in Chili.”
3 manager special beef bones (free from your local butcher–just they are for your dog)
5 hand picked oranges from anyone’s yard in SoCal
Any chili seasoning in the cupboard (or dig in a friend’s cupboard)
Bag of 99 cent chili beans
In a crock-pot put bones, oranges (and one peel) and chili seasoning. I like to do this the night before to really caramelize the sweetness of the oranges, or you can do it a couple hours before you add your beans. When broth is boiling add two cups of water for every one cup of beans. Serve hot two hours later. It’s recession recipe, bitches. Hieeeeeeeee.
