Beverly Hills dentist Evan Chandler, the father of the boy Michael Jackson allegedly molested 16 years ago, has died in New Jersey, reports Radar. The details of his death are not known. In the early ’90s, Chandler reported Jackson to Los Angeles and Santa Barbara authorities, charging Jackson with molesting his son Jordan, then 13. A yearlong investigation into the charge was launched by the Santa Barbara District Attorney’s Office, Jordan made an audiotape detailing the abuse, a Grand Jury was convened, a civil suit was brought by Chandler. But then a very generous settlement was reached and a confidentiality agreement was signed by all parties. Chandler wound up a multimillionaire. And although Jackson had great fan support during his trials, his reputation would never fully recover.
In 1996, however, Chandler brought a second civil suit against Jackson and his then-wife Lisa Marie Presley for $60 million, claiming the two broke the confidentiality agreement by talking about the case to Diane Sawyer on TV in 1995.
Jordie Chandler, now 29, has never talked publicly about the case, which btw is thoroughly detailed in Victor Gutierrez’ book, Michael Jackson Was My Lover.
