Hollywood royal David Carradine, known for playing the Shaolin priest Kwai Chang Caine in the long-running ’70s TV series Kung Fu and more recently for his role as an assassin in the Kill Bill movies, was found dead this morning by a maid in his Bangkok hotel room. He had hanged himself with a curtain cord. Carradine, 72, had been in Thailand since Tuesday and was about to start work on a film. The crew became worried when the actor failed to show up for breakfast. David Carradine was the son of legendary character actor John Carradine, and brother of actor Keith Carradine. He had appeared in over 100 movies and acted under the direction of such greats as Martin Scorsese, Ingmar Bergman, and Hal Ashby. In 2004, after being in Quentin Tarantino’s two Kill Bill films, he told an interviewer, “This is a regeneration. It is a renaissance. It is the start of a new career for me. It’s time to do nothing but look forward.” (More)
