Five-time Grammy winner Donna Summer, whose iconic dance hits virtually defined the 1970s, died this morning in Florida after a long struggle with breast cancer. She was 63. Summer was the first artist to have three consecutive double albums reach #1 on the US Billboard chart, and she also charted four #1 singles in the US within a 13-month period. Working with producer Giorgio Moroder, she ruled the dancefloors throughout the disco decade with hits like “Love to Love You Baby,” “Last Dance,” “Hot Stuff,” and “Bad Girls.” She is survived by her husband Bruce Sudano, three children, and four grandchildren.
