Syd Barrett will no longer see Emily play. Barrett, a co-founder of the now-iconic band Pink Floyd, is said to have died peacefully a few days ago at home in Cambridge, England, where he’d been living reclusively (under his birth name, Roger Keith Barrett) for 30 years. He was 60. He formed the band with Roger Waters in 1965, but when his psychedelic drug use became too much for the boys to handle, the band brought in David Gilmour to replace him in ’68. Rogers wrote “Shine on You Crazy Diamond” and “Wish You Were Here” for Barrett. It’s thought that the name Pink Floyd was a tribute to bluesmen Pink Anderson and Floyd Council.
