This duplex on East 11th Street in NYC’s East Village might be one of the sexiest pads I’ve ever seen.
The great room is lined with arched glass doors opening out to 1,000-square-foot terrace overlooking St. Mark’s Church. It is the work of design veteran Alfredo Paredes.
Paredes spent more than 30 years at Ralph Lauren, finally as the executive vice president and chief creative officer, overseeing the creation of stores around the world as well as the luxe Polo Bar in Midtown. Last year he launched his own studio Alfredo Paredes Studio.
He told Mansion Global,
“I wanted something that was classic but felt modern.”
When Paredes acquired it more than a decade ago, it was a three-bedroom unit,
“it was a little more modern [and] didn’t have any of those windows. It was pretty simple.
I was like ‘well I know what to do,’ so I jumped on it.”
The end result contains a wood-burning fireplace, hidden chef’s kitchen with a primary bedroom suite which takes over the entire south side of the upper floor with a decorative fireplace, oak-paneled dressing room and a home office.
There’s also the option of snapping up the adjacent two-bedroom apartment for another $2.3 million. Have a look around.
