“Since I was very young, I despised anything boring; I hated my boring name, my small hometown, and the construct of gender that was forced onto me as I grew up. 

Discovering drag, although I first experimented with it in an environment in which I had no choice but to hide it, was freeing for me. While it took me a while to find the general aesthetic of my drag, I knew one thing— it was NEVER allowed to be boring. 

I modeled my drag after the club kids that influenced the scene in the late 20th century, by always making a point of standing out.

I love experimental fashion, clown makeup, and abstract hair sculptures. Every time that I’m in drag, I take it as an opportunity to play with colors and textures in a way that will excite both me and the viewer. 

Since moving to Metro-Detroit, my drag has grown in ways that would have been unimaginable for me just two years ago. I have been able to steadily grow my social media presence by sharing my art to a community of wonderful queer artists, and even finding my place in my local drag scene!

Going forward, I hope to improve my skills even further in every area of drag, so that I can create full looks that are more me than anything I’ve ever done. Hopefully, I will have more opportunities, whether it be through modeling or more online platforms, to showcase my drag and my artistic point of view. In any case, Spïne is not going away anytime soon, whether you like it or not.”
