Remember Kathy Griffin? She is that funny lady who did that thing and got in trouble? Griffin has had a remarkable comeback. She sold out Carnegie Hall on the first day that tickets went for sale; she is in the middle of her very successful Laugh Your Head Off world tour, donating some of her proceeds to The Trevor Project ($11,000 last month); and now it has been announced that she will joining another famous, beautiful member of The Resistance in a few weeks.
Griffin will be paired with my boo, Michael Avenatti, lawyer for Stormy Daniels, in an onstage conversation at something called Politicon described as an “unconventional political convention”.
Politicon is not affiliated with any political organizations, parties or PACS; ticket sales do not support any political affiliations and it is a completely non-partisan organization. This year the gathering is at the Los Angeles Convention Center on October 20 and 21, just two weeks before the Midterm Elections.
Politicon 2018 has a fascinating roster of over 90 guests that include noted blimps Chris Christie and Baby Trump, little gay Clay Aiken and homophobe Tucker Carlson, #MeToo’s Allyssa Milano and #MeNever wackadoodle Ann Coulter, and my hero Cameron Kasky, founder of March For Our Lives.
Griffin first met and took a photo with Avenatti at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner this past spring, and she has stated that she has been a fan from the start. And, so have her gay fans.
Griffin told Vanity Fair:
“I knew my gaymen, which is what I call my longtime gay male following, call him ‘zaddy’. The minute I posted the picture of us together, they were like, ‘Oh my God, bitch, we want zaddy’. Everybody wants him. The ladies want him, the gay guys want him. They think he’s gorgeous, they want to sleep with him, they love that he’s a fighter, they love that he’s a resistor.”
