Madonna admitted to ABC News that she had in the past been “selfish” and “brought a lot of chaos to people’s lives.” Since following the teachings of the Jewish faith Kabbalah – whose principles she said were very “punk rock” and anti-establishment – the singer has learned to follow new directions.
Madonna’s changing her name to Esther. As in Esther, Queen of the Jews? England’s Sky News reports that the singer will say in a television interview airing Friday that she wants to be attached to the “energy of a different name.” Kooky? No, kabbalah. Madonna apparently has the red string wrapped a little too tight around her wrist. “I was named after my mother,” she says. “My mother died when she was very young, of cancer, and I wanted to attach myself to another name.” Seems that the energy of the name Madonna has done very well by her, wouldn’t you say?
