“I couldn’t be more excited to perform in front of my LGBTQ friends and the community that’s supported me for so many years during WorldPride 2019.
Saturday’s Pride Island lineup will be a celebration of everything that the community stands for and will go down in illustrious history.“
Ballroom queen Teyana Taylor and Brazilian drag artist and Pabllo Vittar will also perform as well as Afro-Latina pop star, Amara La Negra, along with the iconic NYC DJ, Johnny Dynell.
Chris Frederick, Managing Director of NYC Pride said,
“We’re thrilled to be able to create this multi-day experience, which speaks to an inclusive set of Pride-goers, during one of the biggest Pride events in the world.
With the iconic Grace Jones headlining on Saturday and the incredible list of curated talent, this musical experience is definitely not to be missed.“
Pride Island Director Jose Ramos was just as excited,
“We’re planning an action-packed weekend of live performances, that will build upon the excitement of what Pride attendees know as Pride Island, for our biggest and most inclusive year yet.
We’re turning up the heat this year, in honor of WorldPride 2019 | Stonewall 50. It’s slated to be a truly unforgettable celebration.“
Pride events span the whole month, culminating in the NYC Pride March on Sunday June 30. This year is historic for another important reason as it marks the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall riots, the beginning of the modern gay rights movement.
