WOWlebrity and legendary nightlife photographer, Michael Fazakerley‘s exhibit Nightbirds premiered last fall at the Stonewall Museum in Wilton Manors, Florida last year and now it’s traveled to Hollywood & the Wow Storefront Gallery.
The exhibit includes 150+ images of NYC’s club culture personalities of the LGBTQ scene like RuPaul, James St. James, Lypsinka, Susanne Bartsch, Lady Bunny, Amanda Lepore, Quentin Crisp and SO many others. Michael said of the book and show,
“Planning and curating this show and its future gave me a new purpose. I am making provisions to leave my archives to Stonewall to live on and will work with them now to get it out there. All proceeds will go to their museum and library. I believe they are an important part of our history and will keep the integrity of my work… it’s a colorful, bold, graphic show and a labor of love that is part of our history.”
Fazakerley, born in Philadelphia and attended FIT in NYC after a winning grant from Andy Warhol and photographer Bruce Weber.
Fazakerley is now working more Nightbirds exhibits, for New York, Berlin and BEYOND!
NIGHTBIRDS opens April 11, 7-10PM at the WOW Gallery at 6650 Hollywood Blvd. and runs through May 2nd. Books hot off the press will be available for Michael to sign. (I just got my advance copy and you’re going to want one!) This show is bound to bring out the WOWlebrities, kids, so don’t miss it!
