The West Hollywood City Council just passed a resolution asking to have Trump’s star removed from the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Mayor John Duran announced on Twitter,
“West Hollywood City council unanimously passes resolution asking the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce to remove the Donald Trump star on Hollywood Walk of Fame.”
Trump was awarded his star on Hollywood Blvd in 2007 during the height of his Apprentice fame. It has been defaced multiple times since he was elected.
The L.A. County DA’s Office formally charged Austin Mikel Clay, 24, on one felony count of vandalism. Clay turned himself in on July 25, a day after allegedly using a pickaxe to smash the star. If convicted, Clay could face a possible maximum sentence of three years in jail.
Clay has set up a GoFundMe fundraising page to cover the cost of his legal fees. So far $5,000+ has been raised toward the goal of $50,000. (Hope there’s enough $$ left over to throw him a parade.)
He explains himself in the video below.
