Proto-punk Patti Smith walked the red carpet last night for the London premiere of the Biblical epic Noah, looking every inch rock’s grande dame. Who even knew she was affiliated with the movie? Apparently, she wrote the lullaby that Noah sings to his his child, that was later used in the closing credits. And just like that, the movie just got that much more interesting. Listen to the song below, and then check out her interview with NME where she discusses how she wrote “Mercy Is” by studying Russell Crowe’s filmography and drawing inspiration from Nina Simone and Puccini’s operas.
