Gaultier dressed models as David Bowie, Madonna, Annie Lennox, Boy George, Sade, Grace Jones, and Michael Jackson – “all the pop stars of the Eighties who have influenced fashion” – for his Spring/Summer 2013 ready-to-wear show. The LA Times called it “fun, but a little sadly nostalgic. Like a Las Vegas celebrity tribute show.” Vogue called it “fun and uplifting,” but said the clothes were superflous. I agree. It feels a little schticky to me. Like great Halloween costumes, but nothing to wear in the real world.
