Pantone has just announced it’s 2017 color of the year! Drumroll please…
It’s #15-0343!… otherwise known as “Greenery.”
It’s a “hopeful” shade, explains the color experts at Pantone.
“We know what kind of world we are living in: one that is very stressful and very tense,“ Leatrice Eiseman, Pantone Color Institute executive director, told the New York Times. “This is the color of hopefulness, and of our connection to nature. It speaks to what we call the ‘re’ words: regenerate, refresh, revitalize, renew. Every spring we enter a new cycle and new shoots come from the ground. It is something life affirming to look forward to.”
So. Think grassy green. Celery green. Kermit the Frog green. Booger green. All of which can easily be incorporated into your wardrobe or decorating scheme. A little pop of hope in our otherwise dreary days.
From the Pantone website:
Greenery is a fresh and zesty yellow-green shade that evokes the first days of spring when nature’s greens revive, restore and renew. Illustrative of flourishing foliage and the lushness of the great outdoors, the fortifying attributes of Greenery signals consumers to take a deep breath, oxygenate and reinvigorate.
Greenery is nature’s neutral. The more submerged people are in modern life, the greater their innate craving to immerse themselves in the physical beauty and inherent unity of the natural world. This shift is reflected by the proliferation of all things expressive of Greenery in daily lives through urban planning, architecture, lifestyle and design choices globally. A constant on the periphery, Greenery is now being pulled to the forefront – it is an omnipresent hue around the world.
A life-affirming shade, Greenery is also emblematic of the pursuit of personal passions and vitality.
I’m sure it’s MUCH easier to wear than last year’s Rose Quartz and Serenity which wreaked havoc with my skin tone. And don’t even get me STARTED on 2014’s Radiant Orchid. Holy crap. I bought a pantsuit in that color and NEVER ONCE WORE IT. It was IMPOSSIBLE to accessorize – as you probably well remember.
This, though, seems eminently doable.
And, what an odd coincidence. Two people from the WOW digital department JUST HAPPENED to be wearing it today! Check out Jake Thompson and Todd Radnitz rocking out in their Greenery below!
