This Norman Rockwell illustration, Breaking Home Ties, was sold to the “Henry” comic-strip artist and Rockwell neighbor Donald Trachte Sr in 1960 for $900, then was discovered this year hidden behind a fake wall in Trachte’s Vermont house. It just sold to an anonymous bidder at Christie’s for $15.4 million. At the same auction, Edward Hopper’s Hotel Window went for $26.8 million. Both paintings set records for the artists. (Source)
