Condragulations!
For the first time ever, Vogue has a pair of drag queens as their cover stars!
For the October issue of Vogue Brazil, Pabllo Vittar and Gloria Groove share alternating covers of the illustrious fashion mag. Vittar, of course, is an accomplished drag musician who has won multiple trophies from MTV and has been nominated for a Latin Grammy for her records. She also BY FAR the most followed queen on Instagram.
“I want, I can, I can do it,” Vittar said in the cover feature according to a translation. “I always knew I was going to get where I am. It is not wrong for you to love yourself, to take care of yourself. People will have to learn to respect you for who you are ”
For the cover, she wears head to toe Gucci, and was shot by Hick Duarte.
The second cover features Gloria Groove in a glorious pink Marie Antoinette wig adorned with Gucci pins.
Gloria might not be as well known in the US, but she’s set to host Netflix’s newest drag reality show A Queen is Born. On it, she helps new queens transform into working professionals. The show is expected to debut in November.
Outside of the series though, Groove has made a name for herself as both an actress and singer.
“I came in the car researching Vogue‘s most iconic covers and absorbing the fact that now it is my turn,” she said in the story. “I am living a dream and I am thrilled with the invitation because being here positions drag queens as fashion icons.” She is dressed in Gucci as well, photographed by Hick Duarte.

It should be noted that in 2007, Andre J was featured on the cover of Paris Vogue in a dress and heels alongside supermodel Carolyn Murphy. Andre, however, does not identifyy as a drag queen.
